The beauty of Reciprocity
You may have read the last section thinking “What’s the big deal?” But it’s the seemingly small things that set the tone in the office. Co-worker relations are all about mutual respect. When one co-worker is asked to pull less than their fair share in work and for social occasions, mutual respect cannot be achieved.
All relationships involve a balance of give and take. If that balance is off, where one person does all the giving and the other does all the taking, neither can be satisfied. The giver eventually feels taken advantage of even if they insisted on doing all the giving in the first place. The taker just feels useless.
